Happy Father’s Day, from LifeBook Memoirs!
1 – He already has everything!
Anyone looking to find a special father’s day gift will know it is not always easy to come up with a gift idea that he doesn’t already have. Dad is most likely the sort who has already bought everything he needs – including your intended gift! At least, my dad is that sort. Recently, on presentation of yet another volume to add to his collection of Nigel Mansell autobiographies, he thanked me, before saying “Don’t buy me any more books, son, I’ve got ’em all.”
2 – A unique Father’s Day gift
We here at LifeBook Memoirs offer a unique and fantastic gift for your father – or, indeed, any other family member – and that is the opportunity to produce their own private autobiography. Our projects help anyone to share their stories and memories with their own appointed interviewer, while our professional ghostwriters use these interviewers to create a book written in such a way as to reflect that individual author’s voice. The end result is a private print run of the author’s personal autobiography, to include extra copies for friends and relatives.
Each project starts with a Welcome Pack, packaged in its own beautiful presentation box and containing a LifeBook Journal, which is itself a useful aid for jotting down in advance any story ideas and notes that may come to mind for the forthcoming project. Handing over the Welcome Pack on Father’s Day is the perfect way to present this unique gift to Dad.
From that point onwards, the project then becomes the author’s own, allowing them to take an engaging and fulfilling journey back through their life. We provide a project team consisting of a project manager, editor, interviewer, ghostwriter, and typesetter, each of whom works together to make sure that the book is shaped according to the author’s wishes. Although we edit the copy as the book develops, the final edited version belongs to the author, as the stories are theirs and theirs alone.
3 – Show Dad his family is interested in his life
Of course, we may think our own lives are not particularly interesting or noteworthy, but what we don’t realize is that there is certainly an audience out there who would be eager to receive our autobiography – our family! Every person has their own unique experiences, which can be fascinating for their relatives to learn about.
4 – He has some great stories
Our parents affect our lives from the moment they bring us into the world and it is sometimes easy to forget that they have their own stories and memories beyond parenthood; it is these stories that make them who they are. Stories and anecdotes can reveal family members’ personalities, relationships, and past events; picture your father as a young boy being told off by your grandfather, for example!
It can be surprising to discover just how many of our relatives’ stories we had never heard before they were committed to paper. Even Dad’s favorite stories, ones that he has retold several times, can be captured in his book – and it is those stories that we often wish we could hear just one more time. Photographs, too, can record familiar and not-so-familiar faces and bring back memories of places and events.
5 – He can give back something you will treasure
At the end of the project, we produce five linen-bound, hard-backed copies of the author’s completed book. The books are personalized with the author’s choice of cover color and their title, embossed on the linen cover in either gold or silver lettering.
Once your father has completed his LifeBook memoir, he, in turn, may present a copy as a gift from him to you – the autobiography that contains all the stories, anecdotes and memories he wishes to pass on to the next generation – and, perhaps, the ones after that, too.
On behalf of everyone at LifeBook Memoirs, we wish a happy Father’s Day to all!
