For some families, finding the perfect gift for a loved one can be a challenge, especially when it seems as if they already have everything they need. That was the case for Bob Fitzsimmons and his sister when they were searching for a meaningful present for their father, Tom.

Having already gifted him a LifeBook once before, they decided to create a second memoir, knowing how much the experience had meant to him the first time around. The result has become more than just a book; it’s part of their father’s daily routine.

Bob kindly shared his thoughts on the experience of creating not just one but two LifeBooks for his father and the lasting impact these memoirs have had on their family:

As a twice-satisfied client of LifeBook Memoirs, this unto itself should clearly state my family’s overwhelming satisfaction and joy in having twice given this very special gift to our dear fatheronce for his 70th birthday and then a decade later for his 80th! It was truly amazing to be able to allow him to create the first edition 10 years ago and to now have all his children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren included in his latest version, which we authored together as a family and recently presented to him.

I will simply say that this is the gift that keeps on giving! Our father has now made a daily ritual out of flipping through the pages of his life story while he reminisces with my mother about a life well lived.

With God’s good graces, we all look forward to giving our father his next LifeBook for his 90th birthday!

If you have someone in your life—like our father—who seems impossible to find the right gift for, I strongly urge you to consider giving them what our dad now calls, quite literally, “a gift of a lifetime!”

Bob also met with LifeBook Memoirs co-founder Roy Moed to discuss his father’s experience of the project and the extent to which his family values his book:

Tom’s first LifeBook was completed in 2012. His second, A Blessed Life, was completed in 2022.
